Wingate Place Wedding Review

Congratulations to the newly married couple, Meaghan and Troy! The Hardin's got married on March 6, 2021, at Wingate Place in Charleston, South Carolina. Follow along below on their planning journey!

The Proposal

Meaghan and Troy met in sixth grade and continued to be friends for around ten years. They took their first step as a couple in 2016 when they decided to start dating. On a mini fall getaway with friends in Asheville, NC, Troy popped the question on a hike in front of a waterfall. Meaghan had no idea he was about the ask the question, but then his voice got serious and then got down on one knee. After the proposal, they celebrated by popping a champagne bottle at the top of the mountain with friends!

The Location

Since Meaghan and Troy grew up in Charleston, it only made sense to them to get married where they grew up! After researching a bunch of venues, they fell in love with the beauty of Wingate Place located on Johns Island in South Carolina.

The Fashion

Meaghan wore a wedding dress from Verita Bridal in Mount Pleasant, SC. The designer was Madison James, and Meaghan was in love! Both of their rings were from Polly's Jewelers, while Meaghan wore earrings from Olive and Piper.

Troy wore a tuxedo from The Black Tux.

The bridesmaids wore their own selected styles of dress from The Dessy Group. The groomsmen rented from Men's Wearhouse since a good bit of them were from out of town.

The Style

The couple wanted a more natural wedding style. Meaghan described the style as "classic rustic," because they wanted to stray away from farmhouse and trendy. The couple wanted lots of greenery and flowers that weren't harsh against the dark wood chairs and tables. Because the venue was outside with beautiful oak trees, Meaghan wanted to incorporate a little color to make the greenery pop. The color palette they went with was mauve/blush/cream, with the bridesmaids' dresses as 'vineyard green.' Meaghan and Troy were in love with how the colors played out!

The Florals

Meaghan and Troy hired on Kwan from Bliss in Blooms and it was their best decision in the wedding process. Meaghan loved seeing the florals come to life and they blew her away. Since there was no preference for the specific floral choice, Meaghan was beyond pleased with what Kwan picked out. Everything from the cross to the aisle markers was absolutely perfect!

The Reception

The reception was a favorite for the guests! It started out with a cocktail hour with a photo wall with the couple's last name on it for guests to take pictures in front of. During the reception, there was a buffet. With the pandemic, they had the food served to the guests which the couple found to be amazing (Meaghan's favorite was the pasta!).

The couple had their first dance to “Oh, What a World” by Kacey Musgraves. Troy and Meaghan are huge music people and have both been obsessed with this song ever since it came out. They are also huge Kacey Musgraves fans and knew their first dance as a married couple would be to her music. Throughout the night, the guests danced to DJ Bunn, where he played top hits/party music.

The cake was gorgeous green and gold detailing from Swank Desserts. To add to the dessert table, the couple got buntinis from Nothing Bundt Cakes. It was delicious!

Favorite Memory

As we look back on Meghan and Troy's big day, we asked Meghan what her favorite memory was. Meghan responded with, "It’s so hard to pick because everything unfolded so wonderfully but I’d say my favorite moment was our vows. I was beyond nervous that I would cry or just be nervous speaking in front of people but it really was a moment in time where I had tunnel vision and all I saw was Troy. It was so so special."
