Lowndes Grove Micro Wedding Review

Today we're looking back at one of our favorite Lowndes Grove micro weddings! Christopher and Laura got married on July 11, 2020, in Charleston, South Carolina. We are so excited to give you a full recap on their beautiful micro wedding! Also, stay tuned for another upcoming review of their reception celebration from this past summer!

The Proposal

On February 27th, 2015, Laura and Chris’s individual plans led them both to a local watering hole in Philadelphia, where their paths crossed and set off a combined future. The two talked all night and since Chris was planning a bachelor party in Charleston, Laura's hometown, Chris slyly asked for Laura's number to get some Charleston insider tips. The rest was history. Chris proposed in Fairmount, Philadelphia at the spot of their first kiss where they were walking back from their first date under the umbrella in the rain. Little did Laura know that her sister-in-law was hiding on the street to capture the engagement moment.

The Location

Laura and Chris got married in Charleston, SC, where Laura was born and raised. The two fell in love with Lowndes Grove when they toured. "The water and the dock sold it for us," Laura said! We didn’t have a first look, but we shared a special moment under the arched doorways in the blue room at Lowndes Grove. We exchanged letters and read them together in the room. It was a truly special moment and it was comforting to hear each other’s voices in a beautiful setting!

The Fashion

Chris wore a custom Tux from Indochino and a black and white Brackish bowtie. Laura wore a Maggie Sotterro dress, which is already the same designer as her sister’s wedding dress so it was really special to her. The bridesmaids wore different shades of blue to compliment their wedding colors.

The Style

The couple went for shades of blue and florals for their style. Their overall color palette was blue, blush, and greenery. They used the incorporation of ginger jars, floral linens, and white florals to tie everything together! It looked beautiful with the Lowndes Grove background! A perfect setting for a micro wedding!

The Cake

Laura went back and forth on the cake design, but finally (after talking to Chris) landed on a white buttercream with blue polka dots from Patrick Properties Hospitality Group. A mix of both of the couple's favorites – half carrot cake and half almond cake with chocolate ganache!

Favorite Memory

We asked Laura what her favorite memory was looking back at her special day! She responded with, "I didn’t eat anything before the 11 am ceremony and by the end of it was very very hungry. We decided to take a drive-thru trip to Chick-fil-a...fully dressed in wedding gown and tux. We got a few honks and congratulation waves! We love Chick-Fil-A (I worked there during high school) and it was something memorable that probably wouldn’t have happened at our normal non-Covid wedding!

Stay tuned for photos of Laura and Chris' post-covid wedding celebration!
