You're Engaged! Now what?

Updated: Feb 17, 2020

So you’re engaged!

Congratulations! Being engaged is one of the most exciting times in your life, but we know it can also be one of the most stressful! Here are 8 helpful tips from the AMW team!

1. Take time to enjoy your engagement!

Maybe you’ve been waiting to be married for what seems like forever. Or maybe you already have thousands of wedding pins on your Pinterest board (we do too!) But before you start full-force planning, take some time to enjoy your engagement! This part of your relationship with your partner is so short and busy, that it’s important to take a minute before you start to celebrate with each other and with your friends and family! Celebrate your love and your future before worrying about your budget and guest list!

2. Start thinking about what you want your day to look like!

Have you always dreamed of a beachfront destination wedding? Or do you want to be married in the church you grew up in? Do you want an intimate, smaller wedding or to invite everyone you know? Take some time with your partner to think about what is important to you for your wedding day!

3. Work on your guest list!

You don’t need a finalized list as soon as you get engaged, but by starting to work on a guest list, you will be able to estimate how many people your venue needs to accommodate and get a better idea what your budget will look like!

4. Hire a wedding planner!

Hiring a professional to plan your wedding will help lessen the wedding planning stress and make your wedding the day of your dreams! The AMW team has multiple planning packages - ranging from day of coordination to full planning - to fit any couple’s style! Our team will plan out your budget, create a customized design board, recommend vendors who fit your style and budget, coordinate your wedding day, and so many other things to help personalize your day and make the process as stress free as possible!

5. Dream up your wedding style!

This is something your wedding planner can help with, but think about the overall look and feel you want to achieve at your wedding! Do you love burgundy with gold but hate purple and silver? How formal do you want your guests to dress? Will your beachside wedding incorporate beach elements like a sand dollar escort wall?

6. Choose your venue!

Take some time to research and visit venues that you have been to and loved or have seen online! Find a place that feels right and where you can envision yourself celebrating with your favorite people on the most special day! This will also help you set your date and location before moving forward with any other vendors. When deciding on a venue, keep in mind that not all venues offer the same things! Does the venue include chairs and tables? Do they have an in-house caterer? Is there a noise ordinance in the area that will cut your night off early? Your planner can help you find the best fit for your day!

7. Book your vendors!

Starting with the ones who can only book one wedding per day (photographer, videographer, band/DJ), book the vendors who will make your wedding complete! If you have a wedding planner, they will help recommend vendors who will fit well with your style, budget, and personality! Book the vendors who you would love to spend the most special day of your life with and who will make you feel comfortable and happy with their services! This industry is filled with so many wonderful people who want to be a part of your day!

8. Don’t forget the details!

It is easy to get stuck planning a cookie cutter wedding and going through the motions just to check things off your to do list! Keep in mind that this isn’t just a wedding - it’s YOUR wedding! Enjoy the process by making it personalized to you, and by the time your wedding comes, your guests will be able to see you and your partner in every detail!

Congrats again on your engagement! We would love to be a part of your special day! Please reach out and let us know how we can help you!

Best,

The AMW Team
