Kendra joined our team in 2022 and is one of our Lead Planners. Originally from Virginia, Kendra graduated from Washington & Lee University with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Studio Art. Kendra is a Charleston-based planner and she enjoys Charleston weddings, as the city has such a variety of beautiful venues! Let's get to know more about Kendra!
How did you get into weddings?
I’ve always been interested in the event industry. After living in Charleston and being surrounded by everything weddings and hospitality, as well as having many friends in the industry, I knew I wanted to be involved on some scale! A mutual friend connected me with Alexandra and I valued the opportunities she creates for people with other industry experience to learn and dive right in!
What is your favorite venue we have worked with?
That’s so tough - I love all of the venues and vendors we work with! If I had to pick one it might have to be Lowndes Grove. It’s so timeless and quintessential Charleston. The staff is also fabulous!
What wedding day details stand out to you the most?
Overall, I think florals can add so much to a space and set the palate. Draping/lighting and furniture also play a key role here. But diving even deeper, I love when couples have special elements that are unique to them. I have had a couple that had wooden surfboard bar signs because they are big surfers and love the beach. I also had another couple who used branded plastic cups from the bar they met at! It’s those special little touches that make your wedding unique to you and set it apart!
What are your current favorite wedding trends?
Patterned linens. I swear they are an instant vibe! They can totally transform a blank space and bring color and depth to any wedding. I recommend, even if they are just for a cake table or cocktail tables! Will also never be over having your dog at involved in your wedding - yes, I have an obsession with my Golden Retriever, Eddy…
What has been your favorite experience with AMW?
Forming relationships with so many Charleston vendors! Working with the same close vendors repetitively is so fun - you get to know them on a deeper level and we all have such a deep appreciation for each other’s work! It truly is such a team effort!
What is a wedding day tip everyone should know?
Just enjoy the process! Wedding planning can be stressful since there are so many moving pieces but just remember that at the end of the day, it’s all about kicking off your marriage to the one you love! Nothing else is nearly as important and everyone is just there to celebrate you!
